Soy bean, green / edamame (毛豆) seeds

I’m excited to share with you some locally saved soy bean seeds! I love growing soy beans – they are so crisp and full of flavour when grown fresh. Soy beans are ready to harvest towards the end of summer and I like to use them fresh and green, boiled as edamame beans. Any beans that have started to mature can be dried and used in soups.

Plant type: warm season annual

Plant family: Legume family

Plant size: bushy plants around 80cm tall – would appreciate staking to keep them from flopping about.

Sun: Full sun

When to sow: Best sown direct in spring, as beans prefer not to be transplanted.
